Call for Proposals

Recognizing the significance of creativity research and creative activities in schools and at work, we are proud to announce a conference entitled “Creativity in Business and Education: Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Aspects”. The conference aims to discuss the state of art of creativity in education and organizations, two core disciplines of the international master study program “Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education”, and the possible themes for international collaboration on creativity research in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world.

The Creativity in Business and Education Conference, organized by Prof. Detlef Urhahne and Prof. Ai-Girl Tan and sponsored by the Münchner Universitätsgesellschaft, will take place on 24th and 25th June 2010 in Munich. This special event is a follow-up effort to promote creativity research among colleagues from various disciplines and across different cultures. The inaugural conference was organized by Professors Ai-Girl Tan and Detlef Urhahne and was sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in September 2008. The present conference adopted the same aims:

* Broadening the repertoire of competencies of the course participants of the international program for Master in Psychology of Excellence in Business and Education.
* Providing a platform for graduates and colleagues of other disciplines, faculties, universities, and industries to explore and share diversified views of creativity and talent development in business and education.The nature of the conference shall be evidence-based and practice-oriented.

The focus of the conference is on sharing experiences in the field at work and in schools. Graduate researchers (doing dissertations), professionals and faculties are welcome to present their findings and studies related to the themes listed below:

* Frameworks and theories of creativity in education and industries
* Identification and nurturing the talented and leaders
* Discovery, innovation and invention
* Shaping the organizational culture and excellence
* Promoting personal and organizational excellence

Authors are invited to submit an abstract of 150 words and a proposal of 1.000 words by April 15, 2010. Accepted contributions will be included in the conference proceedings. Abstract and conference papers shall be sent as .doc-files to excellence@psy.lmu.de and aigirl.tan@nie.edu.sg. Selected papers after blind review will be published in a special issue on Creativity Across Disciplines and Cultures (guest editors: Ai-Girl Tan and Detlef Urhahne) of the journal “Talent Development and Excellence” of the International Research Association of Excellence and Talent Development.

PhD students of the faculty and Psychology of Excellence students, especially master thesis candidates, should feel encouraged to contribute with a proposal and a short presentation of 15 to 20 minutes to the success of the conference. The presentation topic should be within the realm of creativity, problem-solving, intrinsic motivation, innovation and giftedness or aligned to the above listed topics.

Registration

The conference is free of charge for Psychology of Excellence students and scientific staff from the faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences at LMU. Participants from outside of the faculty are asked to pay a conference fee of € 50, whereas alumni of the Excellence program may participate for a reduced fee of € 25.
